STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
CONECTA
INECC, FMCN & FONCET PROJECT
CONECTA
Connecting watershed health with sustainable livestock and agroforestry production.
Connecting watersheds.
In the face of historical deforestation and the crisis resulting from climate change, rural communities and ecosystems in the state of Chiapas are highly socio-environmentally vulnerable. This vulnerability has been primarily caused by the lack of coordination among different sectors that impact these territories, the limited sustainable criteria in the allocation of public resources, the technical and financial capacity constraints of project implementers and productive activities, low incomes, and the absence of opportunities to diversify them for ejidos and communities. The implementation of activities such as cattle ranching, oil palm cultivation, maize and coffee agriculture with poor practices causing deforestation and degradation, as well as the lack of markets that promote sustainable production and generate fair agreements for communities, have also contributed to this situation. To counteract this, the CONECTA project is created, which has the following components:
COMPONENTS (4)
Component 1: Development and promotion of integrated landscape management.
Component 2: Strengthening business skills for sustainable livestock and agroforestry.
Component 3: Conservation, restoration, and implementation of climate-smart practices in livestock and agroforestry landscapes.
Component 4: Project coordination, collaboration, and knowledge management.
