Smal grants mechanism

The Small Grants Mechanism (MPD) is a section of Component 3 “Access to Financing” of the “Prosperous and Sustainable Communities (CPS)” project financed by the United States Agency for Development (USAID) and was created to contribute to address the diversity of needs of local communities within the project’s target landscapes, which are: Sierra Sur de Oaxaca in Oaxaca, Sierra Madre de Chiapas and Selva Lacandona in Chiapas and Calakmul in the three states of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The MPD is executed by FONCET for Chiapas and by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through the Small Grants Program (PPD) office for Oaxaca and the Yucatan Peninsula.

The validity of the mechanism is from 2022 to 2025, in which projects from 10,000 to 50,000 USD will be financed with a duration of up to 2 years. A call will be opened annually to finance the best proposals. We are currently in the process of selecting the first initiatives to benefit from the MPD in Chiapas.
